Located close to Canterbury Cathedral and the town centre, The Riverside Quarter is made up of student accommodation, new homes, commercial space and leisure facilities including an art house cinema.
The Riverside Quarter in Canterbury is the second project developed as part of a joint venture with Harrison Street and Uliving alongside Canterbury City Council and Lloyds Bank providing the senior funding. Located close to Canterbury Cathedral and the centre of town, the development is highly accessible for students at both the University of Kent and Christchurch. The site is just 10 minutes away from Canterbury West train station meaning that it also attracts millions of tourists that visit Canterbury each year.

The Riverside Quarter was the first modular development project by Uliving, Linkcity’s student accommodation development arm, with collaboration at group level, involving Bouygues Batiment International and BYMaro. Manufacturing the modules in Morocco at BYMaro’s factory and assembling them onsite allowed Linkcity to significantly reduce the time and cost of construction.
Alongside the 493 student bedrooms, the Riverside Quarter also delivered 189 apartments and 50,000 sq ft of new commercial space that takes in an iconic five-screen Curzon cinema. Students renting accommodation within Riverside Quarter—which is accessible for Canterbury’s two leading universities—enjoy social study areas, a cinema room and a gym onsite. For the wider community in Canterbury to enjoy, the scheme also delivered a new public square capable of hosting events and cultural activities, eight cafes, bars and restaurants and a new canoe house and pontoon.
