LCY_Hounslow-House_7

As part of a collaborative project, Linkcity delivered a new civic building, housing, council offices, a library and a café with excellent sustainability credentials in Hounslow’s town centre.

Following a three-way development agreement between Notting Hill Housing, the London Borough of Hounslow and the Greater London Authority, this project delivered much-needed new homes and a new civic building with council offices, a library and a café in Hounslow’s town centre. Our focus was the new civic building which, in line with the council’s aspirations to showcase environmental sustainability, is rated as excellent according to the world-leading sustainability assessment method BREEAM.

Delivering Hounslow House

From the start of the project, Linkcity was aware of the sensitivity and importance this new civic centre represented for the London Borough of Hounslow. Having established a close relationship with the stakeholders throughout the design and delivery of the building, our structured approach for the approval of specification and materials and a well-coordinated handover protocol meant the project was delivered successfully, on programme and to budget.

A Sustainable Building

Several stand-out elements allowed us to meet our sustainability goals. Arresting in design, the extruding geometric forms found on the pre-fabricated aluminium façade are intended to not only maximise daylight but also to minimise summer solar gains and glare. During the construction process we achieved our target of 100% waste diversion from landfills through both recycling and transference to an “energy from waste” facility.

Read our shared vision for Hounslow here.

Smaller, modern, and more energy-efficient, Hounslow House is a landmark building that will revitalise and give a real boost to the town centre, but it also has a strong community focus which allows us to work more effectively for the borough’s residents.
