Located at the corner of London Road and North Street, this development sits within Barking town centre, facing Abbey Green and the historic Barking Abbey.

It provides a new ASDA supermarket along with ancillary retail, 100 new homes, a market square and 350 car parking spaces, as well as a junction and highway improvements.

A particular focus has been placed on the integration of the scheme within its historic surroundings and, to this end, a sympathetic and traditional palette of materials has been selected.

The new ASDA supermarket offers a sales floor of 40,000 sq ft, some 15,000 sq ft larger than the retailer’s previous unit in the town centre, and acts as a catalyst to the improvement of the area’s wider shopping offering. The ancillary retail units provide modern space for small or start-up businesses.

The scheme’s landmark market square adjoins the Council’s new Skills Centre development and provides a link to the main shopping precinct along East Street.
